The Challenge
The goods receiving process is inefficient, with employees spending excessive time on tasks due to disconnected systems and poor tracking. Manual data entry and cross-referencing lead to duplicated work and errors, further slowing productivity.
Understanding the problem
The Goods Inbound project began with immersive field research, observing store employees during the goods receiving process to understand their challenges and needs. Hands-on studies, stakeholder discussions, and interviews with both managers and employees provided a comprehensive view of current procedures and pain points. This detailed exploration formed a solid foundation for designing a solution tailored to improve efficiency and meet user needs.
The Approach
The project aimed to simplify delivery checks and streamline the claims process, reducing tedious report searches and eliminating redundant manual data entry, to enhance overall efficiency. In this phase, together with the team, we brainstormed ideas to improve the process, evaluating them based on feasibility, technical constraints, and development time. After prioritizing the most promising concept, I created and tested the wireframes, refining the solution through user feedback to ensure practicality, usability, and alignment with technical requirements.
The Result
To ease potential user concerns about moving from traditional pen-and-paper methods to a digital system, we tested an initial wireframe prototype in real-life scenarios at our Bucharest store. This allowed us to validate assumptions and ensure a smooth transition for long-time users of the existing process. Participants embraced the digital concept enthusiastically, highlighting that their time-consuming tasks stemmed from the lack of digital tools.
